The Humane Society of Greater Miami invites all animal lovers to the “Walk for Animals”



It is that time of the year again! The Humane Society of Greater Miami will host their “Walk for the Animals” on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. Registration to the event starts at 8:30 am with a morning filled with entertainment and activities for the whole family. The Walk for Animals will start promptly at 10:00 am.

Fun & Contests for Pets and People:
  • Best Kisser
  • Doggie Look-a-like
  • Kid’s Area with bounce house
  • “Paw”casso prints
  • Fun, Games and Raffles
  • Special appearance of the incredible Purina ProPlan Performance Team. Watch these amazingly talented and athletic canines perform incredible flying routines!
Come on out and “walk the walk” and go “the extra mile” to help our furry friends and homeless animals in the Miami area. Even if you don't have a dog, you can help! Join a pack (woof, woof) or walk on your own..

Ryan Phillips, NBC6's meteorologist and JulieGuy, morning anchor at 101.5 LITE FM will emcee the event. Stop by and say hi! to them. Who knows? you might even find that special someone... Adorable puppies, cute little kittens, dogs and cats from local rescue groups will be available for adoption and are ready to meet you!


The Humane Society of Greater Miami is a not-for-profit 501-C3 charitable animal welfare organization supported solely by donations, private grants and fundraising events. They rely on our local community for financial support.

Bark at the Park @ Markins Park!


Attention Baseball fans and dog lovers:

If you haven’t been to the new sensational Marlins Park yet, here is a chance to bring your entire family—both two and four-legged—to the ballpark, and help a worthy cause at the same time.

Bark at the Park, which takes place on Sunday, June 10th at 1:10pm, invites families to watch the Miami Marlins play the Tampa Bay Rays. People tickets, including children over three years old, are $15 and doggy tickets are $10.


All proceeds from the purchase of the doggy tickets go to the Humane Society of Greater Miami.



To make this day even more fun, the Humane Society of Greater Miami asks guests to submit a photo of their dogs in the best Marlins attire and win the photo contest.




Go to www.marlins.com/bark to submit the photo. The person with the winning photo will have their photo displayed on Marlins Vision, as well as receive four tickets to a future Marlins game and an autographed baseball.

For tickets, please www.marlins.com/bark so you won’t be left out. Seats are assigned and availability is limited, so if you want to attend with friends make sure to purchase the tickets together.

Beat the Heat - Spay/Neuter Week!


What a deal!
From February 21st until the 25th, 2012, many of South Florida animal rescue organizations will be offering low cost spay/neuter surgeries for cats. The fee is $15 and includes:

  • Spay/Neuter
  • Rabies Vaccine
  • Microchip
  • FVRCP Vaccine




All cats must be 8 weeks old or older. Open only to residents of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Appointments are recomended.

ASPCA Partners Organize Mega Adopt-a-thon! "Nothing Like a Pet!"

The Humane Society of Greater Miami, Miami-Dade Animal Services, and The Cat Network are hosting a mega adopt-a-thon throughout the community!

Come and meet the adorable dogs. cats, puppies and kittens available for adoption. It's going to be hard to resist adopting any of these cuties!

The Mega Adopt-a-thon will be on April 30 and May 1, 2011 from 11 am - 4 pm at the following locations:

Calling All Animal Lovers! The Pet Care Fair and 1-Mile Fun Walk!

Join Us For The Pet Care Fair and 1-Mile Fun Walk!

Saturday, May 1
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Miami Bayfront Park

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The FREE 1 Mile Fun Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Walk participants will receive an ASPCA bandana and goody bag complete with product samples and coupons from pet care sponsors. Donations are encouraged, and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Miami-Dade Animal Services and The Cat Network.

Canine Counselors is offering a FREE! program available at the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet! 

Join the class! Learn more about your best friend's behavior and how to correct some of the most common "doggie bad manners":

  • Pulling on the leash

Howl at the Moon!

Bring your leashed, vaccinated dog to howl at the moon on Saturday Oct. 10th from 6 to 9 pm at the Shops at Midtown Miami – fountain plaza.


Visit the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-a-Pet booth and meet adoptable canine cuties, as well as pick up information on their programs and services.


This fun-filled event will be held under the stars with lots of pet-friendly activities taking place amongst the TWAN exhibit. The World at Night (TWAN) is a worldwide exhibition of photographs featuring international landmarks set to celestial backgrounds; celebrating the International Year of Astronomy.

Summer Lovin' Adoption Drive Weekend!/

In celebration of National Homeless Animals Day; Humane Society of Greater Miami will be hosting Summer Lovin' Adoption Drive! Saturday, August 15 and Saturday, August 22, from 1pm to 4pm.

Adorable Dogs will be available for adoption at the South Dade Petco, 18579 South Dixie Highway. There will be food and drinks, give-aways and raffle prizes!
 
A dog adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Miami has already been spayed or neutered and is up-to-date with all vaccines.
On-site adoptions will be offered at a 75% discount - all dogs only $50!

Barkham at Markham! Doggie Park

"Barkham at Markham" is the ultimate doggie park!

The park is about three-acre, fenced-in area, just west of the entrance to Markham Park in Broward County.

It was designed as a space for dogs to play leash-free. It includes sections for both large and small dogs, and it was the first dog park in the County landscaped with Bermuda sod to provide a smooth, even grassy playing surface.


Amenities include:

  • 8-foot-wide asphalt paths for walking or jogging with your pet

  • Two shelters feature fountains dispensing chilled water for humans, dogs have their own fountains

  • Washing dog area for doggies of all sizes!

  • The entire dog park is fully ADA accessible.

  • Both dogs and their owners are expected to adhere to Dog Park Rules

First Annual Bay Harbor Islands Bark Stroll!

Wine Down Wednesday presented by PetNet.

Let's have a toast for the wonderful work that is done for the animals by The Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet at the Wine Down Wednesday, presented by PetNet.

The wine tasting will take place at the Conrad Hotel on Brickell Avenue on May 27th. 2009.

Tickets are $25 per person and include two drinks, apettizers, and the opportunity to network and meet other pet lovers like you!

The Humane Society of Greater Miami invites you to the 12th annual How-li-day Brunch for the Animals.

The event will take place at the fabulous Loews Miami Beach Hotel Sunday, December 7th, 2008 and will be from 11:00AM to 2:00PM.
