“Art for Bark”: Help the animals of the Florida Keys affected by Hurricane Irma

Blessing of the Animals


The Humane Society of Broward County is having a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 8 at 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM. All pet parents are welcome to bring their special furry friends. This custom is conducted in remembrance of Saint Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. It also celebrates the Feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.

The Franciscan Friars of The Parish of Sts. Francis & Clare will perform the Blessing that it will be held outside in the East Yard at the Humane Society.

Pets of all kinds are welcome! Please make sure to have your pet on a leash or in a secured carrier.

The Humane Society of Broward County's Walk for the Animals will take place Saturday March 5, 2016 at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale.


Come and join thousands of fellow pet lovers and their dogs in an easy-going 1-mile walk through Downtown Fort Lauderdale along the New River while raising funds to support HSBC's shelter and community outreach programs.

1st Annual Wildlife Baby Shower @Sawgrass Nature Center/Wildlife Hospital

Sawgrass Nature Center/Wildlife Hospital in Coral Springs will host their 1st Annual Wildlife Baby Shower. 

Guess Whoo is Expecting? All mama birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums and many more!! Come and see all cute little creatures being born right in our backyard and learn more about South Florida's habitat and wildlife. 

The event starts at 10:00 am to noon on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami invites all animal lovers to the “Walk for Animals”



It is that time of the year again! The Humane Society of Greater Miami will host their “Walk for the Animals” on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. Registration to the event starts at 8:30 am with a morning filled with entertainment and activities for the whole family. The Walk for Animals will start promptly at 10:00 am.

St. Gregory’s Annual Pet Blessing



Everyone and every furry, scaly, slimy, and feathered pets are welcome to attend the St. Gregory’s Annual Pet Blessing in Boca Raton.

The event will be held at the front lawn of the church on Saturday Oct 3rd 2015 at 11:00 am.
A short service and a special blessing to all our beloved pets and earth creatures to follow.

Stay for more fun and cuteness! Tri-County Animal Rescue will be showcasing some of their adoption-eligible animals. Simple Gifts Youth Band will share their talents and music.

A Midsummer Night's Ice Cream Fundraising for the kitties!



The Cat Network is having a A Midsummer Night's Ice Cream Fundraising for the kitties at Cherry Smash Ice Cream Parlour in Coral Springs on Thursday, August 20th, 2015.

Treat yourself to delicious specialty ice cream sundaes, old fashioned malts, ice cream sodas, banana splits, and more. All in a unique old fashion ambiance. The event will be from 6 - to 8 pm; a $5 contribution will get you five tickets for the raffle featuring fabulous prizes including pet-inspired jewelry, gifts for cats, event tickets and more!

The Cat Network is dedicated to reducing the overpopulation of stray and feral cats in South Florida through the humane practice of sterilization, vaccination, and release.

BugFest Master Lobster Chef Competition & The Great Florida Bug Hunt winners



Come out and watch how five lobster chef teams compete in the "BugFest Master Lobster Chef Competition" on Thursday, July 30th 2015 - 6 pm to 8 pm at the Beach Pavilion/Ocean Plaza in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL.

The event is sponsored by Lenore Nolan-Ryan of Lenore Nolan-Ryan's Cooking School & Catering and is being hosted by the two Clownfish of Diving; ScubaNation TV's Billy C and Mitch!

Each team has 60 minutes to prepare the tastiest, succulent, most creative and delicious spiny lobster dish. At the turn of the clock the judges will taste each dish and (---drum roll...) declare the winning team!

This year's judges include:


The event is free and open to the public. Fun for the entire family, music by The Scuba Cowboy, ocean-themed Arts and Crafts vendors, contest awards for divers, raffle prizes, drinks by Aruba Beach Cafe.

At 8:30pm the winners of The Great Florida Bug Hunt will be announced and the fun continues. All BugFest divers are welcome!.

The party is being held at the Beach Pavilion/Ocean Plaza in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, 1 Commercial Blvd.

The Great Florida Bug Hunt



The Great Florida Bug Hunt is an annual lobster hunting contest where scuba divers compete for cash and dive gear prizes to catch the biggest and prettiest spiny lobsters or "bugs."


The contest is held as part of Bugfest by the Sea festivities and during Florida's popular two-day lobster mini-season. Divers can catch up to 12 lobsters per day north of the Florida Keys.

The cost of registration is $20. Divers receive a BugFest T-shirt and Reef Safe 'Goody Bag' with stuff worth an estimated $25.

The Final Bug Hunt Sign-Up will be in person on 28-Jul-201 6pm - 7pm at El Prado Park (4500 El Mar Drive) in Lauderdale by the Sea. 

The Bug Hunt begins at 12:01 midnight July 29 and runs through 5:00 PM July 30, 2015. Everybody has a chance to win something. There are fabulous prizes in many categories:

  • Buddy Team: Biggest 12 Bugs Caught By A Buddy Team 
  • Boat Diving: Biggest Bug Caught Off A Boat (private or commercial)

Shadow Divers Book Presentation


Bugfest by the Sea starts with a free presentation by John Chatterton about best-selling book Shadow Divers in the Jarvis Hall (4505 N. Ocean Drive, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea ) at 7PM on Friday July 24th, 2015. Open to the public!

Meet John Chatterton​, one of the world’s most accomplished and well known wreck divers. Co-hosts of the History Channel’s Deep Sea Detectives television series and the subject of Shadow Divers a best-selling book  about the true adventure of two men who risked everything to solve one of the last mysteries of World War II.

On Saturday July 25th 2015, Mr. Chatterton will be hosting one day Wreck Diving Workshop
